The integration of neurules and cases employs different types of indices for the cases according to different roles they play in neurule‐based reasoning. This results in its accuracy improvement. Experimental results demonstrate the effectiveness of the approach. BibTeX @INPROCEEDINGS{Bichindaritz98integratingcase-based, author = {Isabelle Bichindaritz and Emin Kansu and Keith M. Case-based reasoning is one of the fastest growing areas in the field of knowledge-based systems and this book, authored by a leader in the field, is the first comprehensive text on the subject. Case-based reasoning systems are systems that store information about situations in their memory.

Integrating Case-Based Reasoning, Rule-Based Reasoning and Intelligent Information Retrieval for Medical Problem-Solving. In particular, case-based reasoning enhances the system by conferring an ability to learn from experience, and thus improve results over time.

This paper proposes a multimodal reasoning framework for the cooperation of case-based reasoning, rule-based reasoning. This paper presents an approach to achieve a compact and seamless integration of RBR and CBR within the base architecture of rules.

The paper focuses on the possibilistic nature of the approximate reasoning methodology common to both CBR and RBR. In CBR, the concept of similarity is casted as the complement of the distance between : Soumitra Dutta, Piero P.

The important steps in the inference cycle of CBR are to find and retrieve cases from the case library that are most relevant to the problem at hand (input) and adapt the retrieved cases to the current input.

Integrating Case Based And Rule Based Reasoning: The Possibilistic Connection Soumitra Dutta INSEAD, Fontainebleau France Dutta%Freibabitnet Abstract Rule based reasoning (RBR) and case based reasoning (CBR) have emerged as two impor tant and complementary reasoning methodolo gies in artificial intelligence (AI).

For problem. The book presents techniques for representing, indexing, and comparing complex cases and for converting justification structures based on rules and case into natural-language text.

This book will interest researchers in artificial intelligence, particularly those involved in case-based reasoning, artificial intelligence and law, and formal. Although case-based reasoning (CBR) was introduced as an alternative to rule-based reasoning (RBR), there is a growing interest in integrating it with other reasoning paradigms, including RBR.

implemented, and tested. The rule based tool Jess shall be used for the rule based part, and a freely available tool shall be chosen for the case based part. The application domain in this study will be oil well drilling. The KBS group at IDI cooperates with the company Verdande Technology As, which builds software for the oil and gas industry.

In this paper, we present an approach integrating neurule-based and case-based reasoning. Neurules are a kind of hybrid rules that combine a symbolic (production rules) and a connectionist representation (adaline unit).

Each neurule is represented as an adaline unit. Integrated expert systems and case-based reasoning Indexed Case Library Indexing CBR Problem RBR Solution Combination Andrew R.

Integration of rule based and case based reasoning system to support decision making Abstract: Augmented by rule based reasoning and data mining method, case-based reasoning (CBR) has emerged as a major research area because CBR is not only a psychological theory for human knowledge, but also will be a new comer stone of the intelligent.

Rule based reasoning (RBR) and case based reasoning (CBR) have emerged as two important and complementary reasoning methodologies in artificial intelligence (AI).

For problem solving in complex, real world situations, it is useful to integrate RBR and CBR. This paper presents. The tool exploits the integration of two methodologies, Case Based Reasoning and Rule Based Reasoning, and supports physicians in the definition of therapeutic strategies.

Such a work is being integrated in the EU funded T-IDDM project architecture.Although case-based reasoning (CBR) was introduced as an alternative to rule-based reasoning (RBR), there is a growing interest in integrating it with other reasoning paradigms, including RBR.
